About This Build
The Ironclad 48 is a direct heat cooker — meaning the fire is directly below the food, not offset to the side. That makes it perfect for steaks, burgers, chops, chicken, vegetables, and anything you want to cook over an open flame rather than in a smoke chamber.
What makes this build unique is the individually removable coal bed plates. Instead of one big coal bed at a single height, you can pull individual sections to create high-heat zones and cool zones across the 48″ surface. That gives you the kind of fire control a great cook needs — move food from a ripping sear to a gentle finish without leaving the grill.
Who It’s For
If the offset smoker is for long, low-and-slow cooks, the Ironclad 48 is for everything else. Steaks and chops over charcoal. A full rack of ribs cooked direct. Chicken thighs, corn, peppers, whole fish. This is the grill you fire up on a Wednesday night, not just for big occasion cooks.
At 24″×48″, you have room for a family meal and then some. The polished stainless accents — door bands, hinges, hardware — give it a level of finish you won’t find on a production grill at any price point.
Pairs well with the 94-Gallon Offset Smoker for a complete live-fire cooking setup.
